Udupi: Investigations are ongoing into the burglary at three apartments in Brahmagiri, Udupi, on the night of July 31, where four to five masked individuals armed with lethal weapons carried out the crime. No clues have been found yet, according to police sources.
CCTV footage revealed the burglars attempting to break into the flats with their faces covered. A special team led by the Udupi Inspector has been formed, and technical examinations, including CCTV analysis, are underway. The investigation is progressing from all angles, police officials stated.
Increased Patrols
All police stations in the district have tightened their patrols. Compared to previous years, there has been a significant reduction in home burglaries and chain snatching.
According to SP Dr. Arun K, in 2022, there were 16 murders, 8 chain snatchings, 15 daytime burglaries, and 96 nighttime burglaries. In 2023, the numbers were 12 murders, 10 chain snatchings, 17 daytime burglaries, and 80 nighttime burglaries. Until July 31, 2024, there have been 2 murders, 2 chain snatchings, 11 daytime burglaries, and 43 nighttime burglaries.
