“The omission of Kannada in the nameboards in the Krishna Matha is not right. Kannada must be accorded first priority in Kannada Nadu. The names on the nameboards must be in Kannada first and then in other languages. It is not right for a religious institution to create a schism between languages. Not having names in Kannad also violates government rules, hence, it must be rectified immediately. We will appeal to the district administration regarding it and will continue our protest until the nameboards are changed,” said Kannada Sahitya Parishad’s district president Neelavar Surendra Adiga.

“It is inexcusable that those who provide guidance to society have done such an insulting act. The Kannada Sahitya Parishad strongly condemns it,” he added.

The Matha stated that the Kannada nameboards are yet to arrive and as the boards in Tulu and Sanskrit were ready they were affixed first. The Kannada nameboards will be affixed soon. Tulu was used in the nameboards as most of the scriptures in the Matha are in the Tulu.
