Ullal: Constable suspended for alleged links with gang involved in gambling

Mangaluru: Police Commissioner Kuldeep Jain has suspended Ullal police station Special Branch Constable Vasudeva Chauhan pending a departmental inquiry. The suspension comes after allegations were made against Constable Vasudeva regarding his involvement with a gang involved in gambling.

According to sources, ACP Dhanya Nayak led the police raid at the Talapadi’s Tacchani, where a gambling racket was underway.

During the operation, the primary suspect, a member of the Talapadi Gram Panchayat, managed to escape. Subsequently, Ullal police apprehended the individuals involved in the case. However, suspicions arose regarding Constable Vasudeva’s role, as it appeared that he had informed the accused and was directly involved in their activities.

ACP Dhanya Nayak directly reported her suspicions to the Commissioner of Police. Constable Vasudeva has now been suspended pending a departmental inquiry.
