As Dakshina Kannada district has plenty of government and private hospitals, the chances of people struggling for hospital beds is very less

However, as a precautionary measure, Ullal Health Centre is gearing up to tackle Covid-19 by setting up 50 beds with a pipe connection for supplying oxygen to patients.

Presently, there is no need as over 4,000 beds are already available in other hospitals. Also, daily around 200-250 patients visit the health centre for testing and treatments. Currently, No Covid-19 patients are treated, but if necessary the health centre can be turned into a Covid-19 centre

Mangaluru MLA and former Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader said, ” As of now, Ullal Health centre will not be turned into Covid hospital. But if the situation arises, the centre will need oxygen beds and for that purpose,  demo operations were conducted. We will soon hold a discussion with the DC and Health officers over the appointment of nurses, Doctors and other health workers required for the Centre”
