Dabul Mishra is a regular 32-year-old man who lives in a small village in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjehanpur district. However, the treatment he gets from other villagers is nothing less than divine. He is actually worshipped by them as the reincarnation of a Hindu God.

Mishra’s facial deformity is the main reason for his divine reputation in the village. He was born with a condition that caused his face to swell up in size.

An abnormally large tumour on his face, which has been there all his life, has exhausted all his savings. He made several attempts to remove the tumour from his face but it only led to negative results. Now, he works at a local temple to provide for his children and blind wife

But the man’s poverty-stricken condition finds hope in the villagers who hold him in high regard. His facial deformity is seen as a blessing and many consider him to be the reincarnation of Lord Jambavan.

Jambavan was known as the ‘King of Bears’ in Indian mythology. He was a popular figure in Indian epic poetry and Ramayana.

Despite love and adulation from villagers, Mishrs considers his deformity to be a curse. “I was born with this condition but never took to begging because of my self-respect. Although I consider this as a curse, the people have now found a god in me and worships me as an incarnation of Lord Jambavantha,” Mishra was quoted by MailOnline.

He added that government officials are aware of his condition but have not offered help.

When he is at work in the village temple, he collects donations from devotees and also sings songs during religious gatherings. His blind wife said it’s good that she cannot see her husband else her life would’ve been tougher.
