Udayavani on April 20 had published an article about the Amasebailu residents, who had to travel miles for heart treatment as the village did not have any basic facility.

After reading the article, Padmanabh Kamath contacted the Health department officer Dr Nagabhushan and told him that he will donate the ECG machine.

The machine donated by Dr Padmanabh Kamath has been set up at Ayush center of the region and a person was also trained to use the machine.

Dr Kamath had started the CAD (Cardiology at doorstep) initiative, a WhatsApp group to install ECG machines in PHCs and private clinics in rural areas to help identify heart-related problems and provide assistance over WhatsApp.

Till date, they have installed over 350 ECG machines in more than 23 districts of Karnataka

Recently Dr Kamath had interacted with the Prime Minister during the ‘Jan Aushadhi Week’ celebrated across the nation from March 1 to March 7. The PM had praised Dr Kamath for his life-saving efforts and hoped others too would take inspiration from him and come up with ideas for people’s benefit.
