A 150 minute long meeting held at the residence of Karnataka State Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil in Bengaluru on Wednesday  reportedly failed to take any decision on the issues being faced by the lingayats.

The meeting was attended by Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha President, Shamanur Shivashankarappa, MLC, Lingayat leader Basavaraja Horatti, state minister Basavaraj Rayareddy and others.

Meanwhile, Lingayat leader, Karnataka State Minister for Water Resources MB Patil was failed to attend the meeting held even if he is raising his voice for a separate Lingayat religion in the socio-political spheres of the state.

The leaders reportedly agreed the opinion raised by some of the members to constitute a committee of experts who have deep knowledge in History, law and Lingayatism to prove the fact that Ligayatism is a separate, independent religion and has no connection with Veerashaiva community. A decision to form an expert committee is expected to be taken in the next meeting.
