Versatile Film Director Alan Parker dies at 76

Alan Parker the director of the Commitments and Angela’s Ashes, has died aged 76 on Friday, July 31 in South London.

He was nominated for the best-director Oscar for the 1978 film “Midnight Express” and again 10 years later for “Mississippi Burning

Alan William Parker was born on Feb. 14, 1944, in the Islington district of London. He started his career as a copywriter and then moved into making television commercials.

His career included films such as Fame, Evita, Midnight Express and Bugsy Malone. He won a total of 19 Baftas, 10 Golden Globes and 10 Oscars.
