Vijayapura: Muslim man marries off Hindu girl in his care as per Vedic rituals

Vijayapura: A Muslim man living at Almel town in the district here married off a Hindu girl under his guardianship as per Hindu rituals on Friday, July 30.

Mehboob Masli took Pooja Vadigeri under his care a decade ago after her parents died due to an illness.

Masli has two sons and two daughters of his own.

He started finding a groom for Pooja soon after she turned 21 years old. When he found one, the groom’s family accepted the proposal without demanding any dowry.

Masli is known throughout the town for his social services and was also the chief of the district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad.
