Banerjee had arrived at the booth upon receiving complaint that supporters of her party were not being allowed to cast votes by saffron camp workers.

She was safely escorted out of the booth by Police and Central forces after bringing the situation under control.

Speaking to press persons, the TMC supremo said that she had dialed Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and a senior Election Commission (EC) official to inform them about the situation.

As per reports, TMC and BJP party workers intermittently pelted stones and charged at each other.

BJP leaders, however, have denied the charge. Reacting to the allegations, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said, “Mamata has realised that she will lose and hence, she is doing this drama. We have full faith in the Election Commission. It will ensure free and fair elections.”

Polls are being held in 30 seats including Nandigram in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
