Patel is essaying the role of the titular character in the upcoming adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, which also features popular actors such as Peter Capaldi, Gwendoline Christie and Tilda Swinton.
“I really think that we’ve just assembled our Avengers of British acting. They’re just so funny,” he told Digital Spy.
Armando Iannucci has directed the costume-drama and Patel said the filmmaker gave a unique touch of humour to the story.

“We had a two-week rehearsal period and everyone came in with their own cadence and comedic timing. Some of them were physical, some of them were dry, and it just brings this diversity — which is what we see out there in the streets. So alive and real,” he added.
The original “David Copperfield”, which was first published in 1850, chronicles the journey of the titular protagonist, based on the author himself.
