What exactly is Ayushman Bharat Yojana’s purpose? asks HDK

Bengaluru: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has questioned the purpose of Ayushman Bharat Yojana as the scheme’s beneficiaries would not be receiving free treatment for COVID-19.

Tweeting about the issue, he said that there is an urgent need for the central government to retake a decision on it immediately.

Kumaraswamy has demanded that as the health scheme covers treatment of life-threatening illnesses upto Rs 5 lakh for BPL cardholders, the COVID-19 pandemic must be included in the list of covered life-threatening illnesses.
