Who is Deep Sidhu, the Punjabi actor participating in the Farmer’s Protests?

Popular Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu is one of the many artists from the film and television industry of Punjab and Haryana, who have expressed their solidarity with the protesting farmers.

A video of him marching towards Delhi and lecturing a Haryana police officer in English on why farmers are protesting is doing the rounds on social media.

Sidhu was born in a Jatt Sikh family in Punjab’s Sri Muktsar Sahib district in 1984. His early schooling was said to have been in Punjab. He later studied law and briefly took to modelling, participating in the Kingfisher Model Hunt and Grasim Mr India contest and winning in a few categories.

He began his acting career at the age of 31 with a film titled Ramta Jogi, produced by superstar Dharmendra’s Vijayta Films. He became an A-lister in Punjabi film industry with the critically acclaimed and commercial 2017 hit Jora: 10 Numbaria.

Although, there are polarising opinions about the actor, he has managed to garner a considerable amount of attention during the protests.
