Doctor Sumbul Ahmad Desai is VP of Health at Apple and presented health features of Apple Watch Series 6, including the feature to measure blood oxygen levels in 15 seconds
She explained how the newly included blood oximeter in the Series 6 Apple Watch works and how it is helpful in keeping a track of your health, especially in the times of the pandemic.
According to CNBC, she was hired by Apple in the year 2017 when Apple Watch and its health features were still in its nascent stages, and since then she’s worked on ResearchKit, HealthKit, and CareKit.
Before coming to Apple, she was the Vice-Chairperson of the Department of Medicine and Chief Digital Officer at Stanford Centre for Digital Health. She had also been a Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford for over 9 years.
In Stanford, Dr. Desai focused on developing a research program that focuses on how to leverage technology to improve patient experience and coordination of care. She focused on how both patients and providers think about the integration of technology into healthcare and how these advances would impact our lives
Before being at Stanford, she has worked with Kaiser Family Foundation as a Research Fellow (2009-2010) as well as The Walt Disney Company as a part of the Strategy and Planning division (1993-2004).
