Jamshina and Ali were married in January 2013 and were residing in Karamballi. The gold that was given as dowry during the marriage was sold by Ali who later purchased a lorry to transport fish. He then started tormenting his wife, demanding her to get money from her family, states the complaint to the police.
Jamshina’s husband has collected an amount of Rs 6 lakh from her mother’s house. Her mother-in-law has availed lakhs of rupees in loan from finance and cooperative societies in Udupi. At the end of 2017, her husband had forcefully taken her signature on several cheque leaves of Vijaya Bank Udupi’s cheque book. When inquired about this with the bank it was revealed that someone had bounced 3 cheques.
Jamshina was thrown out of the house by her husband and his family in December 2018, hence she was living in a rented house in Atradi where too her husband used to visit her and assault her. In her complaint to the police, Jamshina mentions that since the day of her marriage she has been subjected to physical torture by her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law Abdul Khader. A case regarding the suicide attempt has also been registered.
