While it is now certain that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil will contest from Mandya Shivarame Gowda speaking on the issue said that though some of the party leaders have decided to field Nikhil Kumaraswamy from Mandya Constituency he will keep asking party ticket till the last minute.

He further added that the party is aware of his strength, loyalty and contribution, hence it would not let them go waste. The party will not make active leaders sit idle.

However, aware of his chances being too faint, Shivarame Gowda said that if at all Nikhil contests from Mandya, as a loyal partyman, he will work for his victory and would not be disappointed if he finally fails to spot himself in the list of candidates of the JD(S).

Meanwhile, Nikhil, the third generation of the mighty Deve Gowda clan, said he would go by the decision of the party on fielding him from Mandya, a Vokkaliga community bastion of JD(S).
