The deceased has been identified as Raghu (33), a native of Tamil Nadu. He was in relationship with the accused Rupa from five-years. Raghu was working with Rupa's husband at their factory thus they knew each other's family. Inspite of being married to a lady from Tiptur, who was living in a rented house with their two kids, Raghu had fancied for Rupa.

The incident took place when Rupa's husband had left for Tiptur two days prior. Taking in this, Raghu was at Rupa's home in an intoxicated state at 11 pm Wednesday. He had a quarrel with Rupa, saying that he wanted to sleep with her daughter.

Enraged by Raghu's behaviour Rupa chose to kill him. She talked Raghu into eating first and served him ragi mudde bound with powdered sleeping pills. At the point when Raghu dozed off, she cut his stomach with a kitchen knife and clubbed him with a vegetable grater. After killing Raghu, Rupa was clueless. She sat beside his dead bosy for half an hour. Rupa's children woke up from their sleep and started screaming after seeing their mother sitting next to a blood soaked dead body. The neighbours came running after hearing the children scream. They immediately informed the police about the situation.

Admitting to the crime, Rupa told the police that Raghu had been looking at her girl for a long time and had gotten out of hand with her on a few events. She cautioned him not to visit her, but Raghu came again on Wednesday night.
