The programme was inaugurated by Justice Venkatesh Naik T, district and session court and president of District Legal Services Authority. He addressed the gathering and said,”“India is a developing country in terms of technology. When usage of computer, internet and social media are on the rise, the case of misuse is also increasing. Cyber crimes are increasing due to technological development. Crimes are now turning scientific. Police must have knowledge of cyber crimes. It has become a big challenge.”

There is absolutely no need to reply to all unknown calls and messages. Information and Technology Act was enforced in 2008. Penalty, compensation and other norms are mentioned under section 43-47. The police must give justice to victims and they should respond immediately to complainants. It is their duty. All offences must be investigated properly,” he added.

Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi spoke on the occasion and said, “There is need to create awareness among more people and students about impact of social media. There is lack of knowledge of cyber crimes. Therefore, more articles should be published in media. Cyber crimes are a global problem and not just limited to India.”
