Every year on October 16, World Food Day is commemorated. The day not only reminds us of how fortunate we are to be able to gorge ourselves on the world’s delicacies, but it also raises awareness of others who are not so fortunate. The day commemorates the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization, as well as highlights that there are millions of people who are starving around the world. The United Nations created the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on October 16, 1945. This momentous day will be commemorated for the 76th time in 2021.
Organizations such as the World Food Program, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and others involved in food-related projects also observe World Food Day.
The primary goal of this day is to spread the word that food is a basic human right. The day also raises awareness about malnutrition and obesity, which can both contribute to major health problems.
This year, the global event for World Food Day will take place at Expo Dubai.
