Yet to receive the report: Edu Minister on removal of Tipu content in text books

Bengaluru: Days after an expert panel recommended the Karnataka Textbook Society to retain the content about Tipu Sultan in textbooks, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said that the panel is yet to submit the report to the government.

“Neither the chief secretary nor I have received the report by the panel. Once it is submitted, the government will take the decision in consultation with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.” He said.

After BJP MLA Appachu Ranjan requested to remove content related to Tipu Sultan, the government formed an expert committee comprising of academicians and historians to analyze this. As per reports, the committee has sent a report to the Society that it is impossible to teach the history of Mysuru without Tipu’s content in textbooks.
