CBI officials had filed a petition in the court seeking custody of the former minister for further inquiries in the murder case.

While arguing in the court, Kulkarni’s lawyer Bahubali Danawadi said that the case was four years old and already a charge sheet has been submitted to the court. Hence there is no need for further trial or investigation.

The judge of the 3rd Additional Court here M Panchakshari, however, said that the charges on Kulkarni are of serious nature and ordered for handing him over to the CBI.

CBI officials had arrested Kulkarni under Sections 302, 143, 147, 148, 120-B on Thursday, November 5. After producing him in the court he was sent on one-day judicial custody and was kept in the Hindalga Jail.
