Youth held for smuggling Gold at IXE

Mangaluru: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials here arrested a passenger who was trying to smuggle gold.

The accused has been identified as Ahamed Nabeel Gaffoor (21) from Kasargod,

It has been learnt that Gaffoor had arrived from Dubai on Tuesday, and was sent to customs office under suspicion.

The DRI had received some information on the said case hence the officials were alert at his arrival.

Gaffoor was intercepted at the aircraft door and was subjected to checking.  He is said to have carried gold which was sealed in his mobile.

The smuggled gold is worth 39 lakhs.
