The show, created by the 49-year-old actor and Jonathan Krisel, takes a dig at the world constrained by corporate interests and the homogenisation of society where one man in Bakersfield, California dares to follow his dream of becoming a professional clown.
But after an unsuccessful enrollment at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, the only job he can find is with the local rodeo.
The series also features Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and Alex Morris.

“Over four seasons, ‘Baskets’ has taken its place among the great FX comedies as an endearing and hilarious look at the dreams and ambition of Chip Baskets and his extended, loving family,” said FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier in a statement.
“This show has been a joy for everyone at FX and we are grateful to Jonathan Krisel, Zach Galifianakis, Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and the rest of the cast and crew for giving us the gem that is ‘Baskets’,” he added.
Embattled comedian Louise CK was once credited as co-creator of the show but his name was removed in the wake of sexual misconduct scandal.
