It is said that after Cyclone Nivar, fishermen have found glittering gold filings along with small beads of the precious metal on the beach. Many have now been sieving the beach sand hoping to find grains and beads of gold Locals told Times of India that about 50 people got gold worth about Rs 3,500 each.

The real reason behind the landing of the gold beads at the beach is not yet ascertained.

However, according to HT, a local policemen claims that a few houses and a couple of old temples on the coast had been washed away during the last month’s heavy rain and some of them might have lost small pieces of gold.

Also, a few pilgrims also leave little gold pieces in the sea while taking holy baths and it could have washed ashore due to high tidal waves caused by recent Cyclone Nivar.
