The home guard department of the state will assign their duties depending on the demand. In case no duties are available, these home guards will not earn money as they are paid on a daily basis.

M Naveen, a home guard by profession said, “I have been working as a home guard for the past 20 years. At the beginning, I used to get Rs 25. Now, I get Rs 11,000. I was expecting for a better salary in just few months but now the government has decided to terminate my services. My wife is a housewife and my daughter is still studying. What should I do now?”

Police officials are already facing problems with inadequate staff in the department and amid covid-19 lockdown, home guards were of a great help in maintaining law and order in the district. But, henceforth the police officials will be facing lot of problems with the termination of home guards.
