The deceased student was studying in the Psychology department at a medical college in Bengaluru. He had returned to Kerala due to a leg injury and succumbed to Nipah on September 8. Fifteen students from Bengaluru attended his funeral, with some returning to the city while others remained in Kerala. The health department is currently tracking down all details regarding these individuals.
None of the primary contacts of the deceased have shown symptoms of the virus so far. However, there is no need for panic. The state’s surveillance team has been alerted, and individuals arriving from Kerala are being monitored through phone calls. Authorities have confirmed that none of the contacted individuals have shown symptoms. Health officials will visit their homes in the next two days for a thorough health examination, said the minister.
