As per the complaint filed by  N Galappa (50), a resident of Siresandra village, two of the accused had approached the farmers claiming to be daily-wage workers who had found 4 kg of gold coins while digging.

The accused showed them the gold coins and offered them 1 Kg at Rs 11 lakh and they went to a nearby shop where a goldsmith confirmed that the gold coins were genuine.

Galappa said that he collected Rs 7 lakh by guaranteeing gold of family members and his friend Rajanna gave away his savings that he wanted to invest in agriculture.

They were later called to a bus terminal where another person joined and they went to Tulasi park. There the accused gave the farmers fake gold coins and took the cash from them.
