Officials are currently in the process of identifying garbage vulnerable points including in industrial areas and biomedical areas.

The civic body has been given the funds to install surveillance cameras and set up a central command centre to monitor solid waste management. The command centre is likely to be set up on the first floor of SWM’s new office in Vasanthnagar.

They will also be conducting a survey of waste generators (block mapping and digital mapping) to come up with better measures of waste collection by involving a third-party agency.

Experts believe that the installation of CCTV cameras will be of no use unless they are monitored and offenders are penalized.
