“The Karnataka government had money to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi, despite oppositions from the BJP party and other pro-Hindu outfits, but has no money to celebrate Hampi Utsav,” said Bellary BJP MLA Somashekara Reddy on Sunday.
He further added that Hampi Utsav should not be cancelled at any cost and threatened that if the government does not celebrate Hampi Utsav they will stage protest against the coalition government.
“If the government has no money to celebrate Hampi Utsav we will beg and collect money from the public to celebrate Hampi Utsav,” he added.
Following Somashekara Reddy’s press meet Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar and Bellari MP VS Ugrappa will be meeting HD Kumaraswamy to discuss the matter, informed sources.
DK Shivakumar on Tuesday, November 27 had announced that there’ll be no Hampi Utsav in Karnataka this year as most of the districts in the state are drought-hit.
