Udupi: The police have succeeded in arresting a person from Petri in connection with the murder of a bus conductor cum owner, Prashanth Poojary at Byrampalli near Perdoor in the district. The arrest was made on July 14 while the other accused is still at large.
The arrested person has been identified as Rakshak (19) from Alangaru, Perdoor and apparently, both the accused are friends.
During the investigation, the cops found out that the motor bike found at the spot belonged to a person working in a petrol bunk at Perdoor. Incidentally, the person in question and a friend of his had gone missing since the day of the murder.
Murder details
It is learnt that the victim Prashanth Poojary had got got a loan of Rs 50,000 sanctioned to one of the accused from a bank in the town. The accused failed to repay the loan which led to a fight between the victim and the accused. Apparently the murder was committed by the person who got angry after Mr Poojary called the person on mobile phone and used abusive language. Prashanth had been hacked to death by the accused with the help of a machete belonging to the victim.

The police investigation is in progress and the accused is expected to be caught soon following which more details regarding the case will be revealed.
