The wedding, held between a bride from Bankenahalli village in Mudigere taluk and a groom from Hyaragudde village, was disrupted when thieves made away with jewellery valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh. The stolen items included a necklace and earrings, which had been secured in the bride’s room.
Thieves Enter Through Window, Escape with Gold
The bride’s jewellery had been safely stored in her room, which was locked while the guests were occupied with the wedding rituals. During this time, the thieves reportedly entered through a sliding window, locked the room from inside, and took the jewellery before escaping through the same window.

Police Investigation Underway
Aldur police arrived at the scene with a dog squad and fingerprint experts to investigate. The hall reportedly has 16 CCTV cameras, which could assist in identifying the culprits. Initial footage has helped police identify two possible suspects. Though the family has not yet formally filed a complaint, they are expected to lodge a report with Aldur Police Station on Thursday, following which police plan to proceed with a detailed investigation.
Compensation Assurance
Relatives of the bride expressed anger over the lack of security, as the window in the room did not have grills. The hall management has offered an apology and assured the family that if the jewellery is not recovered, they will bear the responsibility and compensate for the loss due to their oversight.
