Class nine student commits suicide for not becoming the class leader

Bengaluru: A class nine student of a Bengaluru school committed suicide, on Tuesday night because he was not chosen as class leader.

The deceased has been identified as Dhruvraj(14), a student of Baldwin Co-Education Extension High School, RR Nagar. Dhruvraj was found hanging at his home in Rajarajeshwarinagar, southwest Bengaluru. As indicated by his mother, Divya, Dhruvraj was extremely confident of becoming the class leader however when another student was picked over him he went into depression and committed suicide.

On Tuesday night, Dhruvraj went to his room without eating. When his mother went and knocked at his room door there was no response. Divya with the help of a neighbor broke open the room door to discover Dhruvraj hanging from the roof. He was rushed to the hospital but he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

According to Divya, Dhruvraj had gone into depression after a school programme which was held on June 10 to declare the class leaders. Divya, had thought that he would recover in a few days.

Dhruvraj’s father, Rajesh Kumar, a businessman had committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling when Dhruvraj was in UKG.
