To a question on banning organisations involved in instigating communal violence, the chief minister said a decision will be taken after a report in this regard is submitted by a team comprising DG&IGP Rupak Kumar Dutta, ADGP (Law and Order) Alok Mohan and Advisor to Home minister, Kempaiah. The police have been directed to initiate action against organisations such as Bajrang Dal, SDPI, RSS and others if they were found stoking violence. “I have directed the police to deal with troublemakers with an iron hand and to register cases after identifying them.”

CM also ruled out involvement of people from Kerala in the said violence happenings in DK district.

Siddaramaiah said that only if the BJP leaders were quiet the situation would have been cooled down by now. “BJP leaders visited the place, took out a procession and celebrated Vijayotsava.”

On Tuesday, the Udupi Chikmagalur Lok Sabha MP, BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to establish an office of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Mangaluru.

In her appeal she said, “The situation in and around Mangaluru, the district headquarters of Dakshina Kannada, continues to remain tense, volatile and precarious. An eerie silence prevails. There is fear and anxiety in the countenances of the people. It looks like that Mangaluru and surrounding places are sitting on a powder keg.”
