The Davanagere district court on Wednesday ordered the seizure of two Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses over failure to pay Rs 1.32 crore compensation to a road accident victim’s family.

The mishap which took place in April 2017 near Ranibennur in Haveri district had claimed the lives of Nanjundaswamy, a professor at AVK College in Davanagere, and his friend.

The deceased were traveling to Hubballi with their sons who had to appear for an examination when a KSRTC bus hit their car. Nanjundaswamy and his friend died in the accident, while both the boys sustained injuries.

Suma, the wife of Nanjundaswamy, had approached the Ranebennur taluk court before moving a petition to the Davanagere district court seeking compensation. Despite a court order awarding Rs 1.32 crore compensation to the family members of Nanjundaswamy, the corporation had only paid Rs 10 lakh as compensation amount so far.
