Dharmasthala: Drunk man kills own brother

Belthangady: A man lost his life after his younger brother stabbed him to death as result of a normal fight that broke out between them. The deceased victim is identified as Sanjeeva (49) and the accused is Jarappa, both residents of Kalenja near Dharmasthala.

The incident

Apparently a fight broke out between the two brothers after getting drunk on Tuesday. The verbal altercation soon turned into a physical one when Jarappa angrily stabbed Sanjeeva in the head with a knife.

The grievously injured Sanjeeva was rushed to a clinic at Kayartadka where he was provided with first aid and then shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. However, Sanjeeva failed to respond to the given treatment and lost his life at the hospital on Thursday February 28^th.

The victim had lost his wife a few years back after she succumbed to a disease. He was living with his four younger brothers at the family home and was also reportedly suffering from some deadly disease. Drunken brawl was a common occurrence in this household inform locals.

The accused younger brother Jarappa has been arrested by Dharmasthala police who are also investigating the case.

Since the injury on Sanjeeva’s head appeared minor, the family had initially informed the doctors that the victim had suffered the injury after falling on tiled floor. But, when Sanjeeva died the family got scared and revealed the truth to the police.
