Dismissing rumours SP Patil ensures safety and security on all the three days of Dharma Sansad

Udupi: The rumour about the “terror threat” and bomb attack at the Dharma Sansad have been floating around since Saturday, November 25. The district police have been alert and keeping a close watch on the movements in and around the city especially at Royal Garden where the “Dharma Sansad” is being held. Police groups have been sent all over to avoid overcrowding and to ensure safety.

There is no piece of information on who began spreading the rumour and whether it was a presumption by individuals who saw canine squads surveying around the venue which was already a part of the safety measures. Media persons looked for some clarity on this matter from the SP.

The District police let by superintendent of police (SP), Dr Sanjeev M Patil termed the rumour to be untrue and said that all measures have been taken to ensure safety and security on all the three days of Dharma Sansad.

“We have placed police personnel at strategic points all over the venue and city. People can move about and take part in the proceedings without any worry or fear. Check posts have been created. People visiting the venue and the nearby ‘Hindu Vaibhava’ exhibition have been enabled to reach the venues without any fuss. There is no need to panic,” he added.

To an inquiry, he cleared up that no particular number of police have been designated and requested the public not to pay any attention to the rumour spreading on social media. He guaranteed that adequate security arrangements have been made for the safety of the visitors. The police have been managing the people right from the entry point at Kalsanka to the main entrance of the venue with volunteers from various organisations and parking spaces are also sensibly arranged.
