Amrita Mahotsava held at MGM College

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) College joyously marked the Amrita Mahotsava, with a vibrant celebration on Saturday. The college campus became a platform for alumni to gather, share memories and emotions.

The day commenced at the administration building premises, where a tribute to TMA Pai’s statue was paid, initiating the day’s events. Gitanjali Hall hosted a photo gallery exhibition, commemorating the lives of the college’s alumni.

The new Ravindra Mantapa was abuzz with various cultural programs, games, and talent shows by former students, creating an exciting atmosphere. The Amrita Sangam’s formal program, chaired by T. Satish Pai, Chairman of MGM College Board of Trustees, brought together enthusiastic participants, including present staff and students. Many alumni generously contributed to the educational development of the college during the program.

Alumni, spanning different years and currently residing in various locations, relived their student life by engaging in activities such as chatting, taking selfies, and dancing despite their busy working lives. The celebratory mood was enhanced by singing verses, dancing, and playing games.

The Amrita Sangam was inaugurated in Muddana Mantapa Hall by the retired principal of the college and the students of the first batch. The event saw the presence of prominent figures, including Academy of General Education Secretary BP Varadaraya Pai and principals of various colleges of MGM.

A digital photo gallery at Gitanjali Hall showcased academic activities, group portraits, sports records, and achievements since the college’s inception. The exhibition, displayed on five projector screens, drew attention and added a special touch to the celebration.

Thousands of students from the batch first batch to the recent 2022 batch actively participated in the Amrita Sangam program, reliving cherished memories. The event, organized by the alumni on the occasion of Amrita Mahotsav, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of old students, retired principals, lecturers, and staff said Kokkarne Surendranath Shetty, President, the Old Students Association.
