Kurugodu: In a case of farm distress related suicide, a young farmer allegedly ended his life by consuming poison after his crops were destroyed due to unseasonal rains.

The victim has been identified as M Mohan from Madire village here.  Sources said that Mohan had incurred huge losses due to crop damage in the recent unseasonal rains.

Unable to bear the stress, it is alleged that the farmer consumed poison on Thursday night. He had been rushed to the Ballari VIMS Hospital in a critical condition for poisoning, but could not be saved and died on Friday morning without responding to treatment.
