Belagavi: Gas cylinder explosion at apartment claims 2 lives

Belagavi: Two members of a family died in the LPG gas cylinder explosion on Sunday afternoon in an apartment in Basavangalli here.

The deceased have been identified as Udupi natives Kamakshi Bhat and Hemant Bhat. The condition of the remaining two injured family members is reported to be critical.

A leak from an LPG cylinder reportedly caused the explosion at the apartment where the family resided. Five members of the family, who were at home, sustained injuries in the blast.

Local residents and the police promptly rushed them to the district hospital. One person was later transferred to a private hospital for further treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Kamakshi Bhat and Hemant Bhat succumbed to their injuries, passing away on Sunday midnight. The remaining two family members continue to battle critical conditions under medical care.

The Khadebazar police station has registered a case in connection with the gas cylinder explosion.
