The accused has been identified as Dipankar Nomosunder (23) a native of Assam. Stolen cash worth Rs 14.2 lakhs from him, police said.
The accused worked as a security guard at the ATM situated at 13th Cross Wilson Garden where the theft took place. According to police, the accused had befriended the staff who went to refill cash and gotten the ID and password of the ATM. Using the same, he stole Rs 19.96 lakhs from the ATM and fled to Chaparmukh village in Assam’s Raha district.
After the theft came to light, the bank manager had registered a police complaint.

The accused was brought to Bengaluru after his arrest in Assam. During interrogation, he confessed to having stolen the money for providing a luxurious life for his wife. He had planned to build a house and open an eatery with the stolen cash, police said.
