Speaking after receiving the award here, Dr Shetty, expressed his pleasure that the Centre had exuded confidence in his group by accepting its tender for the development of the Jog falls.Further, he said that the present state government headed by HD Kumaraswamy have ensured their co-operation in the project. “The Jog falls project will be my corporate social responsibility to the state and not a profitmaking venture,” he added.
Stating that the Jog falls has the potential to become a global tourist destination, Dr Shetty said that the Centre must set up an international airport to facilitate better connectivity to the spot.
He urged Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, who was present on the occasion to pursue the matter with the Prime Minister. Gowda, however, did not make any commitments.
