Gangaiah Hegde, father of CCD founder passes away at 96

Chikkamagaluru: Father of Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) founder VG Siddhartha, Gangaiah Hegde died on Sunday. He was 96.

Gangaiah Hegde had sustained head injuries after slipping in his estate in the Gauthahalli village of the Chikkamagaluru district and was undergoing treatment at the Gopala Gowda Shanthaveri Memorial Hospital in Mysuru.

Gangaiah Hegde, a coffee planter was known as a benevolent man who cared for the well being of his employees. He was hospitalized many before Siddhartha committed suicide by jumping off from the Netravati bridge at Mangaluru on July 31.

It may be also recalled that, Siddhartha had met his father in the hospital before he went to Mangaluru and ended his life.

Gangaiah Hegde, who was a coffee planter, was known as a benevolent man who cared for the well being of his employees. He was the one who mentored Siddhartha and lent money to him to found the CCD business empire.
