The innovative technology, developed by Ratnakar Naik Karkala from Innovation Beyond Imagination (INBI)Next Gen Private Limited, has received a significant boost with Rs 10 lakh funding from the Adani Foundation.

The decision was revealed during a press conference by District Carpet Committee Chairman Dr Devi Prasad Shetty. The new system is set to be implemented on a trial basis at the Kanthabare-Budabare Kambala in Aikala Bava village on February 3. The primary objective is to complete Kambala events within 24 hours, a move aimed at minimizing the strain on buffaloes, handlers, and owners.

The technology is expected to eliminate the delays that have been plaguing Kambala events. The system will provide buffalo handlers with a 5 to 10-minute window to commence the race. Failure to do so within the allotted time will prompt the referee to decide on providing another chance or disqualification.

During the press conference, Dr Shetty also shared that the Adani Foundation’s support extends beyond financial assistance. Adani Group’s Executive Director, Kishore Alva, handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the committee and expressed the foundation’s willingness to support the establishment of a Kambala academy to maintain the sport at international standards.
