Following this development, KKRTC has temporarily suspended inter-state bus operations to Maharashtra.

KKRTC Managing Director M Rachappa said that a bus bearing registration number KA-38 F-1201 heading towards  Pune from Bhalki in Bidar was stopped by protesters at Taruri village near Umarga in Maharashtra. The passengers were made to step out and the bus was set on fire, he said.

Alternative transport arrangements were made for the 39 passengers with the help from local police to safely reach their destinations, he said.
