Kambala has been celebrated in the region for hundreds of years. Although there was a temporary pause at one point, the event was revived by the Keregadde family in collaboration with the Ulloor Kambala Fans’ Association. It has since been conducted annually with great tradition and reverence.

The event begins with a special puja offered to the village deity, Kalabhairava, followed by rituals performed at the Kambala field. This marks the start of the race.

Over 50 pairs of buffaloes participate in the Kambala each year, drawing large crowds of enthusiasts.

The event concludes with the participation of the buffaloes owned by the Keregadde family, symbolizing the end of the race. Leadership of the Kambala rests with the family’s members, including Linga Ganiga, Rama Ganiga, and now Shankar Ganiga, supported by other family members and the Ulloor Kambala Fans’ Association.
