Madikeri: A 9-year-old boy who saved his mother’s life has been chosen for the National Bravery Award for the year 2022-23.
Deekshith, a class 3 student, has been chosen for the exemplary presence of mind exhibited to save his mother’s life.
Deekshith’s mother, Arpita, was grinding rice in a flour mill in Kudur village when her head accidentally got caught in the belt of the mill. Hearing her screams, the boy who was playing nearby, ran to his mother’s rescue. He switched off the power supply to the equipment and thus saved his mother’s life.
His parents said that Deekshit will receive the bravery award on India’s Republic Day celebrations to be held on January 26 in New Delhi.
