Mahashivaratri observed with reverence across Karavali coast

Mahashivaratri was observed with pious fervor across Mangalore and Udupi districts on Friday.

In Shiva temples across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, devotees queued up from early morning to seek darshan of the deity.

In Mangaluru’s Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple, rituals like Shiv Pooja, Rudrabhisheka, and special Ranga Pooja were conducted. At Kudroli Sri Gokarananatha Temple, a grand chariot festival took place in the evening.

The day began with rituals like Umamaheshwara Homa, Maha Rudrabhisheka, Shata Seeyalabhisheka, and Maha Puja. Morning puja was observed at Sri Mangaladevi temple, followed by Mahapuja of Sri Devi in the afternoon.

In Udupi, special worship ceremonies were conducted at Sri Ananteshwara and Chandramauleshwara temples. Pontiff of Sri Puthige Matha Sri Sugunendratheertha Sripada, and Sri Sushrindratheertha Sripada performed prayers and special pujas.
