Dr HS Ballal, Pro Chancellor and Dr Christopher Sudhakar, Director Quality received the award on behalf of the MAHE from the Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who is also the Minister for Higher Education. The Dy CM is an alumnus of KMC, Mangalore.
The ratings were released in Bengaluru on Tuesday by the Higher Education Department in association with Karnataka State Higher Education Council. MAHE had a score of 841 out of 1000. The ratings are a comprehensive assessment of all universities in the state including State, Private and Deemed to be Universities.
The survey was done by ICARE Ratings, the research and analysis division of Indian Centre for Academic Rankings and Excellence. Pro-Chancellor Dr Ballal said, “I am extremely happy that MAHE is top-rated among all universities in the State with five stars. We have lived up to our expectations. It is indeed a great honour. We hope to hold on to the position with the hard work of the faculty and students”.

In the NIRF national rankings, MAHE was placed at No. 9 and recognized as one of the top 10 Universities in India. A number of other ranking agencies in India, have in their 2019 surveys, found MAHE to be the best private university in the country. THE WEEK, for instance, has for the sixth consecutive time ranked Manipal as the best private university in the country and Education World has ranked MAHE top private university for the fourth successive time. MAHE is also doing very well in QS and Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
