Mangaluru: Organizations protest against electricity price hike

Bejai: Several organizations held protests on Monday against the government’s decision to hike the electricity tariff.

Addressing the rally in front of the MESCOM office near Bejai, the DYFI district president said that by hiking electricity prices, the government has multiplied the problems of the common man who is already bearing the brunt of inflation due to fuel price hikes.

He alleged that the ruling dispensation of diverting attention from real issues affecting the masses by promoting caste and communal polarisation.

DYFI District Secretary Santosh Bajal also echoed similar sentiments and demanded the immediate roll back of the hike announced. Bharati Bolara, District President of Janavadi Mahila Sanghtane also spoke on the occasion.
