Mangaluru: Smuggled gold worth Rs 15 lakh confiscated from passenger at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle gold into the country on September 24.

Gold of 24-carat purity weighing 306 grams was confiscated from a male passenger hailing from Bantwal Dakshina Kannada.

The passenger had arrived from Dubai and attempted to smuggle gold in paste form by concealing it inside a vest (Baniyan) and underwear worn by him. The seized gold is valued at Rs.15,36,120/-.

Further investigation is in progress, the officials said in a press release.
